WE ARE GIANT TREVALLY (GT) SPECIALISTS
HERE AT BRISBANE SPORTFISHING, OUR MISSION IS TO HELP YOU EXPERIENCE AND LEARN ABOUT TOPWATER FISHING FOR GIANT TREVALLY.
AT THE END OF ONE OUR CHARTERS WE HOPE THAT WE HAVE EQUIPPED YOU WITH ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE SO YOU CAN COME OUT ON YOUR OWN AND HAVE A GO AT CATCHING SOME BRISBANE MONSTERS!
WE LOVE LURE FISHING AS YOU ARE ABLE TO VISUALLY SEE THE TOPWATER BITE AND IT TAKES A LOT DISCIPLINE FROM THE ANGLER TO PERSIST THROUGH SLOW BITE PERIODS, MAKING THE REWARD OF CATCHING A FISH EVEN MORE SATISFYING. BECAUSE BRISBANE IS BECOMING A MORE POPULATED CITY, OUR FISHERY IS COMING UNDER MORE PRESSURE YEARLY. TO COMBAT THIS, ANGLERS NEED TO BE PREPARED TO GO, WHEN OTHER FISHERMAN ARE NOT.
ANGLERS NEED TO BE PREPARED TO PUT IN THE WORK TO GET THE RESULTS, IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR AN ANGLER TO THROW OVER 100 CASTS IN AN AFTERNOON SESSION ONLY TO SEE 1 FISH. BUT THAT FISH COULD BE A FISH OF A LIFETIME.

Ben's PB Gt
This GT was caught using WestCoast Poppers Montebello 130 in the colour way Fusi. Something we have learnt over the years is that BIG GTs like BIG pauses, its very common to work lures too fast as its popular on the internet.

Gt's and Sharks hang out
Here is a photo of a double hookup on good size GT's. We saw a school of sharks busting up, we were originally not going to cast, but we knew there was a possibility of GTs being in there. BOOM double hook up, unfortunately you can see one fish has few bite marks in it. The major downside to this, is you run the risk of your lures being sharked....

Rough Conditions
Generally speaking, we have found most of our success when the conditions aren't dead calm. A few small white caps and some wind has proven successful over the years. However the biggest factor to success is repitition. You need to keep going out regardless of weather, current or moon phase. AND keep casting! It might not happen straight away, it might happen on the last drift, but you have to be in it, to win it as they say
